York & North Yorkshire
Place has always shaped who we are and what we make. Born in London, I grew up in the village of Coxwold, North Yorkshire. After a few resentful years pining for pavements, I slowly fell in love with it and the surrounding landscape.
After university, London beckoned. But instead, I chose to spend my adult life just half an hour from Coxwold, working and living in York—a city that seamlessly blends history with modern creativity. As the UK’s only UNESCO City of Media Arts, York fosters a lively commitment to exploring new ideas in digital media and is home to a community of collaborators and friends. This environment inspires me to keep experimenting while grounding me in the practicalities of making. As a director of a leading VFX company based here, I’m deeply rooted in York as a place to create and grow.
Now, with one foot back in Coxwold, the connection between the village and the city feels more vibrant than ever—not just a matter of geography, but a thread that weaves together my past and present, enriching them both.
York feels as vibrant as I’ve ever known it.
